Galloway, N.J. – Three Stockton University men's lacrosse players were chosen
Maverik Lacrosse DIII Media All-Americans by Inside Lacrosse for the abbreviated 2020 season. Senior
Eric Ellis (Voorhees/Eastern), junior
Luc Swedlund (Randolph/Randolph) and sophomore
Dante Poli (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks South) were All-America Honorable Mention selections.
With the season truncated due to the coronavirus pandemic, Inside Lacrosse recognized 117 Division III players divided into four teams plus honorable mentions.
Ellis, Swedlund and Poli led Stockton to a 5-1 record, with the only loss coming at #6 Ursinus, and a spot in the Also Receiving Votes category of the USILA poll that equated to a ranking of 24th in the nation.
Poli started all six games and led Stockton with 19 goals and 28 points. The sophomore also topped the team with five man-up goals and added nine assists, 21 ground balls and nine caused turnovers. Poli was named CSAC Player of the Week and chosen to the USILA Team of the Week once each.
Swedlund finished second on the team behind Poli with 18 goals and dished three assists for 21 points. The junior netted two man-up goals and also grabbed 10 ground balls in six starts. He moved into second in Stockton history with 159 career goals and seventh all-time with 189 points. Swedlund stands 32 goals shy of the school record of 191 goals by Kevin Logue.
Ellis started all six games and tallied 14 goals and four assists for 18 points, trailing only Poli and Swedlund in goals. He potted one man-up tally and added four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
A senior who transferred to Stockton after a freshman year at Salisbury, Ellis totaled 68 goals and 38 assists for 106 points in 49 college games. Due to an NCAA ruling restoring a season of eligibility for spring athletes, he could potentially return next year if he chooses to do so.
