Stockton Races Past Rowan 98-69

Glassboro, N.J. – Stockton University (6-1, 2-0 NJAC) dealt previously unbeaten Rowan University (4-1, 1-1 NJAC) its first loss of the season as the Ospreys raced to a 98-69 victory. Stockton limited a Profs team that was averaging 106.5 points to their lowest total of the season.
 
DJ Campbell (Vineland/Vineland) led four Stockton players in double figures with a game-high 20 points and also tallied seven rebounds plus five steals. Luciano Lubrano (Ocean City/Ocean City) hit four three-pointers and finished with 16 points.
 
Nick Duncsak (Toms River/TR North) had an efficient outing with 15 points on 7-12 (58.3%) shooting in 15 minutes played. Kyion Flanders (Wildwood/Wildwood) finished with 14 points to go with game highs of nine rebounds, six steals and five assists.
 
Kadian Dawkins (Eastampton/Rancocas Valley) totaled eight points, eight boards and four assists. Dawkins tied his career high on the glass. Stockton forced Rowan into a season-worst 25 turnovers and converted them into 28 points off turnovers.
 
Lubrano scored eight early points to propel Stockton to a 17-5 lead in the first 5:16 of the game. The Profs rallied to within 24-21 before the Ospreys seized control for good with a 17-3 run over the next six minutes. Flanders led the charge with eight points and capped the spurt with a three-pointer that made it 41-24.
 
Lubrano and Flanders paced Stockton to a 43-31 halftime lead with 11 and 10 points respectively as the duo shot a combined 8-17 (47%) from the floor. The Ospreys sank eight three-pointers and forced 15 Rowan turnovers in the half.
 
Stockton never let the Profs make a run in the second half, leading by at least 10 and as much as 31 in the period. Campbell scored 12 second-half points on 4-5 shooting from the floor and a perfect 4-4 at the line. Duncsak chipped in with 11 markers on 5-7 (71%) shooting.
 
Overall, 17 Ospreys saw action in the second half and 11 of them scored as Stockton put 55 points on the board. They shot 58.3 percent from the floor (21-36) and flirted with the century mark before finishing with the resounding 98-69 triumph.
 
Stretch Hawkins topped Rowan with 10 points followed by Connor Dickerson with nine points and eight rebounds plus Marcellus Ross with nine points.
 
On Saturday, Stockton will play its fourth straight road game when the Ospreys visit Ramapo for a 1 p.m. contest.
