New Paltz, NY --- The State University of New York at New Paltz women's tennis team opened up its season Wednesday and came away with a 9-0 win over visiting SUNY Cortland.

Trinity Chow and freshman
Tatiana Barnett played at first doubles against the Red Dragons' Logan Streety and Isabella Bonapace and earned an 8-1 win, while senior
Jenna Grandville and freshman
Loretta Donovan teamed up at third doubles to defeat the Red Dragons' Katie Barber and Shannon McGuire, 8-1 as well. Abby Madigan and Vyda Van Denburg gave SUNY New Paltz's duo
Onalee Batcheller and
Alexandra Dratch a match, but Batcheller and Dratch came through with an 8-5 win.
Chow and Barnett cruised to 6-0, 6-0 victories in first and sixth singles, respectively, while Donovan and Batcheller each won their matches 6-0, 6-1 in sixth and fourth singles, respectively. Grandville earned the 6-2, 6-2 victory over Vyda Van Denburg in third singles, while Abby Madigan forced a tie break against two-time First-Team All-SUNYAC selection
Laura Koob but Koob fought to a 6-1, 7-6 win to earn the sweep for the Hawks.
SUNY New Paltz is back on the court Monday when it travels to SUNY Oneonta to take on the Red Dragons. The match is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
