DURHAM – Members of the Duke men's tennis team concluded strong summer performances on the International Tennis Federation (ITF) world tennis tour, collecting two singles and three doubles titles.
 
Redshirt senior Garrett Johns and sophomore Pedro Rodenas teamed up to claim one of those doubles titles after an impressive showing at the 25K Futures event in Gandia, Spain. The duo strung together four consecutive wins, including a straight-set victory over Nicholas Bybel (USA) and Antonio Prat (Spain) in the finals 6-4, 7-6 (3).
 
Additionally, Johns, an Atlanta, Ga., native garnered two doubles titles with Ozan Baris of Michigan State University at the 25K Futures events in Wichita, Kan., and Tulsa, Okla., before earning a singles title at the men's singles 15K Futures event in Monastir, Tunisia, this week.
 
Rodenas secured the other singles title last month after claiming the men's singles 25K Futures crown in Denia, Spain. The Madrid, Spain, native recorded four-straight wins before defeating fellow Spaniard Carlos Lopez Montagud in the finals 7-6 (3), 6-3 for his first career 25K singles title. In June, Rodenas also reached the singles final of the 15K Futures event in Rabat, Morocco.
