Men’s Tennis Announces Fall Schedule

DURHAM – Duke men's tennis head coach Ramsey Smith has announced the Blue Devils' fall slate of action.

The Blue Devils will play in nine tournaments total over the next three months.

The fall schedule features a combination of professional and collegiate events, starting with the ATP Cary Challenger, Sept. 10-17. A selection of Blue Devils also will travel south to take part in the South Carolina Ranked +1 tournament, running Sept. 15-17.

A short trip down Tobacco Road for the Tom Chewning Fall Invitational, hosted by North Carolina, on Sept. 22-24 will provide the Blue Devils with a final warmup before the ITA All-American Championships kick off Sept. 30. In between the Tom Chewning Invite and ITA All-American Championships is the ATP Charleston Challenger.

The Blue Devils take a short break from competition before hosting the ITA Regional Championships at Cary Tennis Park, Oct. 20-23. Andrew Zhang advanced to the semifinals in singles last season and joined Michael Heller in doubles action before falling in a tiebreaker in the semifinals.

After the Charlottesville ATP Challenger on Oct. 28-31, Duke closes the fall season at the Wake Forest Fall Invite (Nov. 3-5) and the ITA National Fall Championships (Nov. 1-5).

The ITA National Fall Championships will be held at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif. The Championships are the grand finale to the fall collegiate tennis season and feature 64 of the nation's top collegiate singles players (32 men and 32 women) and 64 doubles teams (32 men's team and 32 women's teams).

Duke returns nine letterwinners from a year ago, including All-Americans Garrett Johns and Pedro Rodenas. The Blue Devils welcome one freshman in Alexander Visser to the roster.
