Marching bands, colorful floats, and performers made their way along Constitution Avenue, NW on Saturday as a part of the 2018 Cherry Blossom Parade.

“I’m excited to see everything!” a spectator said, smiling.

The parade celebrates the gift of the Japanese cherry trees to the U.S. and reflects an ongoing relationship between the two countries.

“They are doing a great job! It’s a nice day!” said Michelle Hamilton, a DC resident.

Crowds came out with cell phones and cameras in hand ready to snap the perfect picture.

“It’s fantastic!” Manassas resident Beatrice Claiborne said. “You couldn’t ask for better weather, it’s a wonderful experience, I love it!”

Colorful costumes filled the street and some spectators joined in on the fun.

“We made our coats, the vests, totally cool, right?” A group of sisters said, holding up bright pink, furry coats.

Floats and balloons flew by along the 10 blocks on the Constitution Avenue route. The parade started at 10 a.m. and wrapped up at noon.
