Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced a new expansion of COVID-19 vaccine eligibility that includes government employees, nonprofit workers and essential building service workers.
The announcement was accompanied by new guidance from the state Department of Health indicating that in-person college faculty and essential in-person staff are eligible to be vaccinated, effective immediately.
SUNY has clarified that this extends to all campus staff who are currently working in-person, regardless of job title or job function. This includes student workers. It does not apply to those who are working 100% remotely.
Individuals who are eligible through their employment status must be prepared to present employee ID cards as proof of employment, per the Department of Health guidance.
Effective March 17, vaccination eligibility will be further extended to all public-facing essential workers from governmental and nonprofit entities, and all public-facing essential building services workers.
Governor Cuomo’s announcement, described in full at this link, also makes any New Yorker age 60 and up eligible for vaccination, effective March 10.
