Need to brush up on Blackboard skills? This new Online Learning Orientation is for you!

The Office of Instructional Technology has put together a new Online Learning Orientation to help new and returning New Paltz students learn more about a host of topics related to succeeding in remote and hybrid courses.

This optional, self-paced orientation opportunity covers everything from what to expect in an online course, to getting the most out of Blackboard, to general time management skills for success in online classes.

The course is easily accessible by logging into Blackboard and looking for the “Fall20_Student Online Learning Orientation” in the “My Courses” area.

Faculty are also enrolled in this resource (also as “students”) and are welcome to access it to see what is offered and point students to modules and lessons that may be relevant to the skills needed in their online classes.

Faculty who would like students to go through the entire course can get verification of participation by having students take the optional final exam and present faculty with the certificate for the course.

Students are encouraged to review these materials at their own pace. You can go through each module in order to get the fullest possible introduction to all of our systems, or use the orientation as a reference guide by looking at the modules and lessons in the Content section to see what topics you want to learn more about.

Those who haven’t used Blackboard or are unfamiliar with the process for accessing this content can follow these instructions for getting to and logging into Blackboard.

If you need any assistance with this orientation or any other online learning needs, please reach out to our Blackboard support personnel.
