National J&J vaccine shortage means no on-campus supply for week of April 12-16

Student Health Services received word on Friday, April 9, that the College’s on-campus vaccination site will not receive any supply during the week of April 12.

While we expected to receive more doses for our students this week, an unexpected shortage is affecting supply of the one-dose Johnson & Johnson (J&J) vaccine nationwide.

The U.S. government allocates doses to states on a weekly basis; the national allocation for the week of April 12 will be only 700,000, a steep decline from the April 5 allocation of 4.9 million.

We are disappointed to be unable to provide vaccination to our students this week, and hope for additional supply soon.

During our initial round of on-campus vaccination on April 8 and 9, the College was able to administer doses to roughly 200 students.

All New Yorkers 16+ up remain eligible for vaccination, and appointments may be available at other sites throughout the state, including here in Ulster County.

Please consult New York State’s Am I Eligible page and the Ulster County Vaccination Resource Center (or your local county’s equivalent) for more information about available appointments.
