NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Rocketship Public Schools is giving out fresh food to thousands of families in Antioch every Saturday for a year.

Rocketship is partnering with Break-Thru Nashville and the USDA Farmers to Families Food Box program. They're handing out eggs, milk, and fresh fruits and vegetables at the Southeast Community Center at the Global Mall.

Boxes are available to 1,300 families on a first-come-first-serve basis.

“We saw a need for food assistance from the South Nashville families enrolled in our schools and found an opportunity to broaden this support across the community,” Sherrill Stratford, Growth and Community Engagement Manager for Rocketship’s Nashville Region, said.

Food is given out Saturdays starting at 11 a.m. in the front parking lot at 5252 Hickory Hollow Parkway. The program lasts through August 2021.
