SUNY New Paltz Lands 153 Student-Athletes on the 2019-20 Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll

Cortland, NY — The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announced the 2019-20 Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll Wednesday, which recognized student-athletes with a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or higher.
 
There were more than 1,600 student-athletes honored on the list, including 153 student-athletes from the State University of New York at New Paltz, 50 more than last year, with 40 freshmen earning a spot in their first academic year. Women's soccer and field hockey led the Hawks with 15 selections, followed by men's soccer and women's lacrosse with 14. Baseball had 13 selections, while women's volleyball had 12 of their 18 student-athletes on their roster earn a spot. Women's Basketball, softball, tennis, men's and women's cross country and equestrian all had more than half of their roster earn a 3.30 or better. 

SUNY New Paltz had 31 student-athletes earn a 4.0 this spring with nearly 64 percent of Hawks earning a spot on the Dean's List. More than 80 percent of the 310 student-athletes who participated in 2019-20 for SUNY New Paltz earned a 3.0 or better, with nearly 54 percent garnering a GPA of 3.5 or better this semester.
