Stockton Eliminated in NJAC Tournament

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (20-9, 7-1 NJAC) saw their 2022 season come to a halt as Kean University (18-12, 6-2 NJAC) swept the Ospreys by a 3-0 score on Thursday night in the semifinals of the NJAC Tournament. The scores were 25-22, 25-20 and 25-17. Freshman Kate Louer (Clifton/Clifton) posted her seventh double-double of the season with 10 kills and 15 digs in the loss.
 
The Cougars jumped out to a 9-7 lead in the first set before Stockton rallied with five straight points for a 12-7 margin. The home team kept the five-point advantage, until the visitors clawed their way back into the set.
 
With the Ospreys holding a 20-16 lead, Kean scored nine of the next 11 points to capture the first set at 25-22. Louer had five kills and 10 digs in the frame.
 
Stockton had leads twice in the second set but could not sustain any momentum as the Cougars pulled away for the 25-20 win. Stockton held another lead in the final set at 11-9 but Kean used a 5-1 run to take the lead at 14-12 sending Stockton into a timeout.
 
The Cougars did not slow down, outscoring the Ospreys 11-5 to take the match at 25-17 and eliminating Stockton from the NJAC Tournament.
 
Senior Haley Green (Springville, Utah/Maple Mountain) and Emma Capriglione (Tuckerton/Pinelands) added seven kills each, with Aubrey Rentzel (York, Pa./Central York) and Regan Mendick (Newark, Del./Red Lion Christian) dishing 15 assists each.
 
For Kean, Aubre Adams had a game-high 13 kills, with Aspen O'Brien dishing 35 assists to top all players. Sian Seeger and Ashley Smith dug out 16 and 12 digs respectively.
 
Stockton ends the season with 20 wins, the 28th time in the 48-year history of the program that the Ospreys have eclipsed that mark.
