The show ran for five seasons on ABC, from September 26, 1969 to March 8, 1974. Actress Florence Henderson played the part of Carol Brady. Initially, the show revolved around the adjustments and rivalries that come with newly blended families. As the series went on, plot lines focused on more typical themes for family dramas, such as teenage crushes, sibling rivalry, and character building. The show's opening sequence became famous for its three-by-three grid layout, with a video headshot of each family member appearing to look at the other cast members.
