Galloway, N.J. – The Stockton University men's and women's track & field teams qualified for All-Academic Team honors from the
U.S Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2020 season. The Osprey squads were among 150 men's programs and 209 women's groups that earned the recognition by achieving a cumulative team grade point average of 3.10 or higher.
The Stockton women's team, coached by
Todd Curll, registered a 3.63 team grade point average that tied for 36th in NCAA Division III in GPA. The Osprey men's squad, coached by
Jayson Resch, tied for 81st in the nation with a 3.29 grade point average. The Stockton programs were second out of seven NJAC women's teams and third out of five NJAC men's teams on the list.
In addition to the team honors, seven Stockton student-athletes qualified as USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes individually. The four men's qualifiers were
Edward Dennerlein (Chatham/Chatham),
Keith Holland (Bayville/Central Regional),
Qudratullah Qadiri (Ocean Twp./Ocean Twp.) and
Darren Wan (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT).
Three qualifiers from the Stockton women's team were
Susann Foley (Tabernacle/Seneca),
Jeanmarie Harvey (River Edge/River Dell) and
Jessica McRae (Keyport/Carteret).
In order to qualify, competitors needed to have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher and finished the indoor track & field season ranked in the top 50 in the nation in an individual event or top 35 nationally in a relay.
Stockton competed in 10 meets during the 2020 indoor season, with the men's and women's teams each finishing third at the NJAC Championships. Dennerlein, Foley and McRae qualified for the NCAA Championships, which were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dennerlein and McRae received All-American honors in the shot put and high jump respectively.
