Parishioner Jill Altom held a meeting this past Sunday to share more about Crowded Table Tennessee, a ministry to equip churches to provide practical support for Davidson county foster families and their caseworkers. This support includes meals, grocery runs, and yard care. TN ranks lowest in the nation when it comes to foster home transition rate. Families that are supported are more like 90% more likely to continue fostering. Executive Director Adam DeVries provides St. B's with his story behind founding Crowded Table here and more details about supporting foster families here. If you would like to learn more, contact Jill Altom.

The Mission & Outreach Committee is beginning to recruit its new class of incoming members. The M&O Committee determines how a substantial portion of St. B's Love in Action funds are spent, maintains relationships with our mission and outreach partners, and engages our parish in volunteering in our community. M&O meets 5-7 times a year and its members often serve alongside our parishioners at the Branch, ShowerUp, and other organizations. We seek a diversity of ages and tenures at St. B's. Please pray on this opportunity! Contact Chair Tom Mahan for more information or to express interest.

In Tennessee there are over 9,200 children in foster care, but many fewer foster parents than are needed. Exacerbating the instability for children, one in four children entering foster care was re-entering after a prior episode in the system. Parental substance use and neglect were the two most frequent
circumstances associated with a child's removal from
home as of 2021. Read more here.

The Most Rev. Michael Curry is presiding bishop and primate of The Episcopal Church and he preached to the Diocese at St. George's Episcopal Church on Saturday, September 7.
