lyrics
All dressed up with nowhere to go
Is there any justice in this world?
On the sunset strip I break down and scream,
“Give me higher culture and a place to dream”
And you say, “Where’s your anger, where’s your rage,
Rage at the values of a dying age?
Can we just lose our shirts tonight?
Follow my lead”
And you’re hard enough to be that man
But are you real enough to understand?
I wish this night would never end, I could dance forever
Like time is standing still, feel the rush whenever I’m
Haunted by the dream, yeah the air tastes better
That’s the spirit moving in me
Blow that trumpet, blow through the roof
Blow through San Francisco at a hundred proof
You were the final fruit of lust on the vine
Held by a guardian angel with a dangerous mind
You say, “I know your faith can be revived,
Don’t sell your soul just to stay alive,” and I say,
“You don’t know what it takes to rule these times”
And I’m hard enough to be that man
‘Cause I’m real enough to understand
I wish this night would never end, I could dance forever
Like time is standing still, feel the rush whenever I’m
Haunted by the dream, yeah the air tastes better
That’s the spirit moving
And I’m understanding life, let it burn so sweetly
I separate the man from the myth completely
I realize after dark that the love won’t leave me
That’s the spirit moving
It’s the scene in the movie where he makes his stand to say,
“We won’t be happy ‘till we give our lives away”
Will you still love me when the spotlight fades?
Ah that’s some real shit, ain’t it?
I wish this night would never end, I could dance forever
Like time is standing still, feel the rush whenever I’m
Haunted by the dream, yeah the air tastes better
That’s the spirit moving
And I’m understanding life, let it burn so sweetly
I separate the man from the myth completely
I realize after dark that the love won’t leave me
That’s the spirit moving in me

It had been far too long since I'd checked in on Belle and Sebastian, and I regret I've been away so long. Stuart Murdoch is an incredible song writer and their are some excellent tracks here. Prophets On Hold, Do It For Your Country, and Unnecessary Drama are Belle and Sebastian at their best. s...entient meat
Fave song, "Will I tell you a Secret". Bell & Sebastian have this incredible mood of keeping simple what has to be simple. A song, is a song and is a song. António José Silva
