Participate in Leading at VU program for current and aspiring managers

HR Employee Learning and Engagement invites employees to participate in Leading at VU: Compliance and Supervisory Fundamentals, a new self-paced series on important policies at Vanderbilt University.

Leading at VU is available to any employee and will be of interest to those who:

  • Currently serve in a supervisory, managerial or leadership role (a people leader)
  • Aspire to serve as a people leader in the future
  • Are interested in further developing their knowledge of VU policies

The series is open access; employees can self-enroll and participate at their own pace.

Topics covered in Compliance and Supervisory Fundamentals include:

  • HR Consulting, Employee and Labor Relations
  • Workers’ Compensation
  • Family Medical Leave Act
  • Accommodations
  • Protection of Minors
  • Title IX
  • Responding to Discrimination and Harassment
  • Workplace Safety
  • Oracle for Managers

Most modules are between 10 minutes and 30 minutes and include essential information for managers.

Experienced people leaders are invited to join the program as well; the pilot cohort of this program shared that the modules served as a valuable refresher and on-demand reference.

Modules will be added this year, including diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, hiring and more.

*Note: Previously, Human Resources hosted monthly “New Leader Orientation” sessions and quarterly “Compliance Fundamentals.” Leading at VU: Compliance and Supervisory Fundamentals replaces these programs in a more accessible, on-demand format that is open to those who are interested in learning more about policies generally and/or are interested in serving in a people leader role.
