Early Connect is a four-week full-time summer research program at UWM for up to 10 MATC students who are interested in health professions and planning to transfer to UWM. Students underrepresented in the health professions, such as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color), are strongly encouraged to apply. The program will include the following elements:

  • A faculty-mentored research experience of 20-25 hours/week.
  • Mentorship from graduate students of color and other members of the campus community.
  • A one-hour seminar, three times a week for discussion about the culture of university research, panel discussions, guest speakers, writing, and reflection.
  • Optional on-campus living in the Sandburg Residence Halls provided, with evening and weekend social activities planned by the RA staff and student mentors.
