Proud to share UC San Diego has been awarded $7.35 million in National Science Foundation (NSF) and The National Institutes of Health funding for the Scripps Center for Oceans and Human Health, led by faculty member Bradley Moore.   The multidisciplinary program, which will also rely on research by faculty member Geoffrey Chang, seeks to understand marine contaminants and nutrients in a changing climate and ensure safe and healthy seafood is available and accessible to all people. Moore will serve as director of the center and Chang will co-lead a research program examining how pollutants accumulate in seafood. We had a wonderful time celebrating our class of 2024 at our annual Graduation Celebration Luncheon! Held the day before commencement, the event provides a more relaxed setting for our graduating class to chat with our faculty while enjoying a delicious lunch. P4 class president Julia Albanez, who will also speak at tomorrow's commencement, made remarks as well as Professor Candis Morello, associate dean for student affairs. Viva Las Vegas! We had a wonderful time at the Western Pharmacy Exchange last week, the largest west coast experience for all pharmacy professionals.   Nearly 40 of our students attended the conference, presenting posters, participating in the annual quiz bowl, networking and enjoying a SSPPS reception at Gordon Ramsay Burger in Planet Hollywood.    Dean Brookie Best, faculty member Nathan Painter and numerous preceptors also enjoyed supporting our students while onsite, connecting with alumni and facilitating networking opportunities.    A major congratulations to preceptor Chris Woo on his induction into the prestigious California Pharmacists Association (CPhA) Hall of Fame, which recognizes individuals who are an inspiration to the practice of pharmacy in California, and receipt of the Bowl of Hygiea award, which honors pharmacists who have dedicated their lives to the profession of pharmacy in California. We are so grateful our students are able to learn from your expertise!    Congratulations as well to our APhA-ASP/CPhA student group which was named a chapter of excellence.    We’re already looking forward to WPE 2025, which will be held in our home town of San Diego!    Support for student travel to professional pharmacy association meetings is provided by the Office of Student Affairs, in recognition of the importance of these meetings for professional growth and development.
