Dear Campus Community,

We find ourselves faced with much activity in our community over the coming weeks: the 2024 election cycle is simultaneously winding up and down, the final days of Block 3 are upon us, and many are preparing for holidays, homecoming and so much more. It is no surprise that many of us are feeling it - excitement, dread, giddiness, angst, or just the stress of everyday life.

Wherever you find yourself positioned in our community and within yourself, there are many opportunities at CC to find respite, release, a friendly ear, or engaging conversation. I encourage you to take some time to reflect on how you can best meet your own physical, mental, spiritual, intellectual, and social needs. To that end, your partners in Student Life, Human Resources, and Campus Safety have collaborated to highlight the following resources and gatherings that you may find helpful, particularly around Election Day, and through the end of Block 3.

  • November 5th Events & Programs:
    • Prioritize your health and get your COVID vaccine at the Wellness Resource Center from noon-3 p.m. Please reserve your spot in advance.
    • Be in community with the Chaplain’s Office:
      • Sound Healing from 4-4:45 p.m. in Shove Chapel
      • Staying Grounded on Election Night from 5-7:20 p.m. in the Interfaith House (1025 N. Nevada).
    • Get creative at the Third Week Pause on Election Night from 5-7 p.m. with the theme “arts and crafts”. Dinner will be provided. Please register.
  • End of Block 3 Events & Programming:
    • The Butler Center “A Space of Joy” on November 6, 7, and 8 from noon–5 p.m.
    • Chaplain’s Office events on November 6:
      • Cozy Lunch Time Discussion Group in Sacred Grounds at 12:15 p.m.
      • Grief Support Drop-in at Sacred Grounds from 4-5 p.m.
  • Resources:
    • Call Safe Ride for escorts after hours and please do not hesitate to reach out to Campus Safety with any concerns before, during and after Election Day.
    • Counseling Center,  virtual counseling, and You at CC are always available to support students.
    • Visit our Fitness Center, join an Outdoor Education event or check out some gear, or take a walk around our beautiful campus.
    • Faculty and Staff can find assistance through our EAP.
  • Finally, the Wellness Resource Center, Counseling Center and Chaplain’s Office are prepared to create spaces for community through the end of Block 3, based on needs.

With gratitude, in community, and in good health,

Janelle Taylor
