Leah Marie Stephens (nee Sawyer) passed away on January 20, 2023 after a long battle with ovarian cancer at the age of 41. She was surrounded by friends and family at her Mother's home in Montgomery, Alabama. She was predeceased by her husband Daniel Jack Stephens and leaves behind her step-daughter Genesis Stephens, step-sister Lois Whitfield, half-brother Quentin Demmon (Gloria), her Mother Roxanne Hawk Holland (Edward), and her Father Steven T. Sawyer (Marie). Leah graduated Magna Cum Laude from Auburn in Montgomery with a BS in Biology. She obtained her Masters in Microscopy from the University of Sydney in Australia and worked as a Microscopist and lab manager doing cancer research at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. She was a fearless traveler, a lover of Art and nature, a seeker of adventure and new experiences. She made friends easily and kept them for life. She laughed loudly, argued fiercely, worked hard, loved without reservation, and lived every minute fully. Her life was a gift to us all and the world was better with her in it. No other services are planned.
