Katy Morgan

Chief Meteorologist

Chief Meteorologist Katy Morgan is a true all-American girl. She has lived all over the United States and is now proud to call Nashville home. In fact you could say it`s a homecoming, as Katy has family roots in middle Tennessee. She has seen all types of weather stretching from the Puget Sound in Washington to the Grand Strand in South Carolina. Katy has lived in Washington, Virginia, Missouri, Kansas, South Carolina, Ohio and now Tennessee. Her first funnel cloud sighting was in Kansas on a family vacation in the summer of 1994.

Since then, she`s been hooked on weather. "Later that fall, I entered the science fair with a project on tornadoes. I was fascinated by weather. I think I got a bit of that from my Dad, who`s a retired US Navy pilot." Katy holds a bachelor degree in Soil, Environmental and Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Missouri, with a minor in Geography. She is active with the AMS (American Meteorological Society) and has earned the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal of approval (CBM). Prior to working at WZTV, Katy has worked at KSNT-Topeka KS, WMBF-Myrtle Beach South Carolina and WXIX-Cincinnati Ohio. Katy has covered countless severe weather events in tornado alley, along with the March 2nd 2012 tornado outbreak in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio. She was also part of tropical storm coverage in Myrtle Beach during the 2008 tropical storm season.

Katy and her husband Tom love the outdoors so you`ll often find them out and about with their dog Casey. She also loves her sports and is a big baseball, football and hockey fan. You can catch Katy`s forecasts every weeknight at 5:30pm and again at 9-10:30pm. May all your days be sunny.
