I am excited to announce some new video releases as well as some upcoming live performances! Live music is coming back, and I am thrilled to have some performances coming up this fall with Flamenco Pacifico, Caballito Negro, Left Edge Percussion, and Left Edge Collective! See "Upcoming Performances" below for dates in Ashland, Portland, Corvallis, and Indianapolis!

New Videos
Jennifer and I made this film of Mark Applebaum's Care Package this summer. Care Package arrived unannounced on my doorstep in 2016 as a gift from Mark. Baffled by what to do with it, I finally prepared this performance of the piece, as well creating the film as a gift to him, which I then sent to him unannounced on a flash drive. 
Portland Percussion Group recorded this video of Mendel Lee's The Spaces Between in April at Revolution Hall in Portland. The one-take, one-camera video by Andrew Wallner/Story to Spectacle turned out beautifully!
Framework: Scaffolded Clouds was commissioned by the Schneider Museum of Art for Art Beyond, an outdoor art exhibition focusing on sculptural and installation based artworks. I composed it to be performed by Left Edge Percussion on Avantika Bawa's A Yellow Scaffold on the Ranch, an installation artwork created for the exhibition and erected at Willow Witt Ranch outside of Ashland, Oregon.

"Hammers, Sticks, Wind & Stones"
Ashland, Oregon

 

Flute and percussion duo, Caballito Negro, alongside Left Edge Percussion, perform The Stone Tapestry, Jeff Herriott’s epic, shape-shifting work for flute and percussion soloists with percussion quartet. The Stone Tapestry weaves together myths about origins, life cycles, and the significance of change. Composed for flute and percussion soloists, plus percussion quartet, and employing a myriad of flutes, percussion, electronics, and video, the piece traces the path of just a few stones, from discovery to disappearance, in a ritualistic performance.

The concert also features a cheery work for  flute and percussion quartet, Hammers, by Allison Loggins-Hull.   It was inspired by the sounds of industrial construction in New York City, where the composer lives.

Left Edge Collective will perform my piece, Elevens for Dan Kennedy, for the 2021 Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC)! Registration for the convention is required to attend the performance, but the 4-day convention is stacked with great performances, clinics, and educational presentations!

Elevens was written in dedication to my mentor and friend, Daniel Kennedy, upon his retirement from California State University, Sacramento, in 2019.

I’m honored and excited to be joined in Left Edge Collective by two amazing colleagues, Bryan Jeffs and Tomm Roland!

The SOU Percussion Ensemble, directed by Bryan Jeffs, and Left Edge Percussion, directed by Terry Longshore, will present “Meditation,” live in the SOU Music Recital Hall and live streamed on the Oregon Center for the Arts at Southern Oregon University YouTube Channel.
