National Honor Society Induction Ceremony

WHS NHS Students come celebrate your hard work and studious consistency this year!

WHS NHS members in good standing +2 guests
may attend the ceremony. 

We look forward to hosting our members and their 2 guests in the WHS Gym on May 18th @7pm.

Seniors please make sure you arrive by 6:30pm for check-in.

Formal invitations will arrive for students no later than the week of May 16, 2023. Students who are not in attendance will not be able to collect certificates, pins, or cords unless prior arrangements have been made with the advisors.

National Honor Society Appeal Requests for
Previous NHS Members

Were you a member of National Honor Society last year and either:

• Missed this year's National Honor Society deadline; OR

• Your application for this year wasn't accepted?  

If you are a previous NHS member you may appeal for acceptance.

Appeals must be made by submitting an appeal request. The link for an appeal request can be found on the NHS website under the Activities tab, on the TV Screens, and in the online Daily Bulletin no later than 3:20pm on 11/18/2022:

Important Dates 2022-23

• Schoology Code: BX4V-95Q2-GH3SH
• Initial Welcome Meeting: 09/13, WHS Commons, 3:30-4:15p, (mandatory for students wishing to apply)
• Make Up Meeting: 10/21, Room 409, Both Lunches
  If you are hoping to apply for National Honor Society this year but did NOT attend our initial meeting on 9/13 OR you did not sign in at the 9/13 meeting, a mandatory make-up meeting will take place Friday, 10/21 during both lunches in Room 409.

• Application Deadline: 11/04 by 11:59pm

• Previous NHS Member Appeal Deadline: 11/18 by 3:20p

• Dues payment deadline if application is accepted: 12/02 by 11:59p
• Hours due: 03/24 by 11:59p
  • New Hour Requirements: 30 hours, minimum of 10 in school hours with a max of 6 hours from donations
• Induction Ceremony: 5/18, Main Gym, 6:30p

Drives 2022-23 

Note: NHS students will not earn hours for donations brought into the school by parents/guardians. The NHS student must be the person to bring in the donated items. The NHS student must take the items to the appropriate club/person running the drive at the designated drop-off location.

• CLOTHING / HOMECOMING DRIVE - OCTOBER 3-7

National Honor Society students! The Homecoming/Clothing Drive for Threads and Treads runs the week of October 3-7! Donations are to be dropped off at Mr. Tanksley's room 410 (Band Room) between 7:50-8:20am.

Hours are as follows, with a MAXIMUM of 2 HOURS 

• 4 pairs of new socks (they really need these) = 1 hour

• 1 Lightly used Dress = 1 hours

• 1 Lightly used Suit/ Suit Jacket = 1 hours

•  2 Lightly used Pairs of pants = 1 hour

• 4 Lightly used shirts = 1 hour

• 4 lightly used accessories (scarfs, hats, belts etc) = 1 hour

Please note NHS students can only get 6 of the 10 IN-SCHOOL HOURS from drives.

Honor Society Forms will be printed and in the Band Room for NHS students.

• TOYS FOR TOTS DRIVE  - DECEMBER 5-9

National Honor Society students! The toy drive for Toys for Tots runs the week of December 5-9! Donations are to be dropped off at Room 410 between 8:00-8:20 a.m. Officers will collect items before school and sign off on hours during that time.*

NHS students can earn a maximum of 2 hours by donating 2 Children's Books for 1 Hour and 2 Large Toys for 2 hours.

*If for some reason you miss that time, hold onto the items and return to Room 410 at Options.
