HOUSE APPROPRIATORS RELEASE ADDITIONAL FY26 FUNDING BILL TEXTS
House appropriators have advanced more FY26 bills out of subcommittee after releasing a series of fiscal 2026 spending bill texts over the past few days. Those texts outlined FY26 funding priorities in the DOT-HUD, State-Foreign Ops and Commerce-Justice-Science bills. Subcommittees on the House side began a markup spree on Monday, advancing the Energy-Water bill and the Transportation-Housing and Urban Development bill along party lines.
Below is a breakdown of key funding levels for programs of interest to the Duke community.
- Commerce-Justice-Science: The House's version of the bill text totals more than $76.8 billion, almost three percent less than current funding. Under the legislation, NASA would receive $24.8 billion, maintaining current funding levels, but proposes an 18 percent reduction for NASA Science. The bill provides $7 billion for the NSF topline, a 23 percent reduction from FY25 enacted. House appropriators marked up the bill and passed it in subcommittee earlier this afternoon.
- Energy-Water: In the Energy bill advanced Monday, FY26 levels include a total discretionary allocation of $57.3 billion--$766.4 million below the FY25 enacted level and include $8.4 billion for the DOE Office of Science, $160 million above the FY25 level.
