Green Commuter All-Electric Car Sharing Program Launches In Chattanooga

  • Wednesday, October 12, 2016

Green Commuter, an all-electric car sharing program, will launch its service in Chattanooga, Tennessee on Thursday. Chattanooga will be one of the first cities in the nation to offer this type of program. Green Commuter was selected by the Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority in a funding and partnership agreement with the Tennessee Valley Authority.

The company’s fleet consists of 20 zero-emission Nissan LEAF vehicles. The cars will be located at approximately 10 locations in and around downtown Chattanooga, including in Coolidge Park on the NorthShore and at the Incline Railway in St. Elmo. The vehicles will be available to rent by the day or hour and are accessed through a smartphone app.

“Green Commuter is thrilled to bring its services to Chattanooga on Thursday,” said CEO and founder Gustavo Occhiuzzo. “We are confident that this forward-thinking community will embrace all-electric car sharing, and we are pleased to present this low-cost mobility option to the region.”

Through the launch of Green Commuter’s service, the company hopes to help reduce air pollution and traffic congestion while providing an environmentally friendly alternative to owning a car.
