MURFREESBORO — Social media has quickly become a part of everyday life, but its purpose goes beyond sharing funny memes and photos with friends and family.

By navigating social channels strategically, professionals can also grow their careers, marketing specialist and author Dave Delaney said.

He covers this in his critically acclaimed book, “New Business Networking,” which includes humorous and inspiring stories to encourage people to make new connections during the next conference, trade show, meet up, or even over breakfast.

Delaney is slated to keynote RUTHERFORD Cable’s monthly breakfast meeting from 7:15-9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11 at Stones River Country Club, located at 1830 N.W. Broad St. in Murfreesboro.

Dave Delaney, founder of Futureforth, is best recognized for his work in the digital marketing, social media strategy, and business networking spaces.

Delaney is the author of the acclaimed book, “New Business Networking.” He has been featured in Billboard Magazine, Forbes, and appeared in USA Today, Mashable, Venture Beat, Nashville Business Journal, and Toronto Globe and Mail.

During his presentation, Delaney will provide skills needed to break the ice, remember names, and listen effectively. He will also include tips on how to use social media to meet and follow-up with new contacts.

RUTHERFORD Cable members and guests are welcome, and the public is invited to attend; the cost for this meeting is $20 and includes breakfast. Reservations are available online at rutherfordcable.org.

Delaney will also offer a Social Media Networking Workshop from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, at The Center for the Arts, located at 110 W. College St. in Murfreesboro.

He will walk attendees through the best practices for effectively using social media to grow and nurture their professional networks. This interactive workshop will provide insight and tools that are necessary to utilize Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn to grow businesses and careers.
“Networking is all about helping others before asking for anything in return,” Delaney explained. “I will show you how to provide value using these popular, powerful social networks.”

The cost is $20 for RUTHERFORD Cable members and $25 for guests. Registration is available at rutherfordcable.org until Monday, Oct. 24.
