Join all-vocal favorite Home Free at the watering hole with a new song, 'Dive Bar Saints'

Matthew Leimkuehler
The Tennessean

Bottoms up, country fans — a cappella group Home Free returns with "Dive Bar Saints," a warm, welcoming ode to the local watering hole.

The track comes off the group's upcoming full-length of the same name, due out July 26 via Home Free Records. Stream the "Dive Bar Saints" music video exclusively with USA TODAY Network — Tennessee in the video player above.

On the meaning of "Dive Bar Saints," Home Free singer Tim Foust explained: "(It) truly epitomizes Home Free, not only our sound, but also our identity. Like the song says, 'everybody’s welcome,' and we mean that — we want people from all walks of life to find comfort in what we create."

Basking in a neon glow, the video takes viewers inside Nashville's Springwater Supper Club & Lounge, where members of the group welcome friendly faces with open arms and an a cappella bop.

Bolo Brothers Creative directed and shot the video last February.

"We loved each getting to play different roles in this music video," said singer Adam Chance. "There were so many moving parts; with us as our characters, the extras, the location. It’s all so important in telling the story we want to portray for this song and album."

"Dive Bar Saints" proves a bit of a departure from the Home Free established on past releases. The group's earned a reputation (and a whopping 291 million YouTube views) mostly for putting vocal twists on country favorites — "Ring Of Fire," "Friends In Low Places," "Cruise."

The upcoming album, however, offers the group's biggest taste of original material, with 10 tracks penned for Home Free. Why turn now to original tunes?

"What we’ve found is that fans actually sing along even more to some of our originals than the covers we do, which is such a great feeling," Foust said. "Fans have continued to ask us for more original tracks, so we finally decided to give them what they’ve been asked for."

He added: "At the end of the day, we’ve proven that we can entertain with the best of them; now it’s time to show the world who we are as artists.

Home Free takes "Dive Bar Saints" on the road this fall for a world tour, including two nights at the Ryman Auditorium in October. See the full dates below.
