Randy Rogers Band Talks 'Homecoming'

Rand Rogers Band has been delivering country music from the heart of Texas for over 20 years now. Headed by Randy Rogers, the singer discussed their new album Homecoming and how they continue to blaze their path. The album is due October 14th.

Homecoming is the band's ninth studio album. It is also the project that reunites them with producer Radney Foster. "It felt inevitable. We all talked about trying to find time to come back. I've written lots of songs for this album with him. It was just like riding a bike working with him," Rogers states.

"We're no longer with a major label, so no A&R team. Radney and I kinda ran this thing together," Rogers exclaims. He adds, "When you're an independent artist, you kinda try to write a bunch of stuff hoping that something sticks. It's like putting the pieces together like a puzzle." Being an independent act comes with its advantages and disadvantages. Rogers talked about working on sending their single "Nothing But Love Songs" to country radio as he notes, "We got a great system and relationship with Texas radio especially, and they've always been good to us. As independent artists, it doesn't make sense to do a full national radio campaign."

Homecoming feels like there is a song on the album meant for everyone. "That's part of my job as an entertainer is to connect with people," Rogers passionately explains. One song that fans have listened to already is "Know That By Now." Rogers discussed the tune sharing, "That song was actually on hold for a superstar that will remain nameless. Found out he wasn't gonna put it on his record and I knew it would be good for us."

"When I write or record a song I always send it to people, most of the time different people. I like to bounce songs off of people as they come in. My wife usually gives me really honest feedback," says Rogers. The group also has songs on the record written by some of the brightest the industry has to offer. "Fast Car" is a song co-written by Randy Montana who is known for penning hits like "I Hope You're Happy Now" by Carly Pearce and Lee Brice, as well as Luke Combs' hits "Beer Never Broke My Heart" and "Better Together." "This song is my wife to a T. I can cut outside songs, but I have to connect to them. 'Fast Car' is one of them," Rogers explains.

When asked what Rogers hopes fans take away from this record, he went on to say, "I love Radney Foster. He's a mentor and a friend, in more ways than just music." He also spoke about the special bond the band shares as a unit. "This band just turned 20 years old. [The] same five guys have been together, same exact band. It's a homecoming in every sense. We hope people can see the magic on this record as much as we do."
