Duolingo is looking to hit a high note in mobile-based education as the East Liberty-based company seeks to harmoniously blend language and music learning into its popular flagship app.
In a video posted on Duolingo CEO and Co-Founder Luis von Ahn's LinkedIn account that is encouraging registration for its annual Duocon event, Duolingo (NASDAQ: DUOL) teased details about forthcoming music lessons on the company's flagship application, which shares the same name.
At launch, Duolingo plans to offer hundreds of lessons on music education and will teach learners how to play over 200 familiar tunes. It'll be powered by the same "gamification" strategy Duolingo has deployed for its language learning efforts. This strategy has attracted tens of millions of people around the world to try or commit to using the learning app over the years.
But it isn't just music lessons that are poised to join the dozens of languages available for learning on Duolingo's platform.
Duolingo Global Communications Director Sam Dalsimer confirmed in an email statement to Pittsburgh Inno that the company's Duolingo Math application will also be folded into the main Duolingo app, allowing Duolingo users to learn multiple subjects within the same application. The Duolingo ABC app aimed at early childhood literacy will remain a standalone application, Dalsimer said.
Other details are scant for now about the music lesson experience. Duolingo said more details will be unveiled during the Oct. 11 Duocon event, which is free and open to the public.
