The Pell Grant is a proven program that has been the foundation of federal student aid for decades, opening the doors of college and opportunity to low- and moderate-income students.

Doubling the fiscal year 2021 maximum Pell Grant award amount from $6,495 to $13,000 will help more students earn a degree, get a good-paying job, and obtain greater economic mobility and a brighter future.

Congress has made tremendous progress toward this goal in recent years. The maximum Pell Grant award is currently up to $7,395, but that is still not enough. There is strong bipartisan support to double the maximum Pell Grant award. Now is the time to do more.

#DoublePell is a national campaign led by a coalition of higher education associations, organizations, and advocacy groups committed to doubling the maximum Pell Grant.

The groups leading #DoublePell have developed tools and resources for students and families to communicate to Congress about the urgency of doubling Pell and tell their stories about how the Pell Grant has helped them.
