Police shoot, kill man with gun in Nampa neighborhood

NAMPA, Idaho (CBS2) - A man has died after he was shot by Nampa Police.

The Nampa Police department says it received a call about a man with a gun just before midnight on Thursday. The caller said the man with a gun was in the area of Lincoln and Elder Street in Nampa.

The caller said the man took a gun out while he was walking in the street. In a news release from Nampa Police, they say the caller reported the man chased after them with a gun as they drove away.

Police responded and located the suspect near Sherman and Banner Street. Nampa Police say the suspect, who has not been identified, pulled out a gun as they approached him.

They fired shots, hitting the man. He died at the scene.

The Canyon County Critical Incident Task Force has been activated with Canyon County Sheriff’s Office leading the investigation.
