Missionary Houses in Mt. Juliet

The Tennessee Baptist Mission Board has two missionary homes in Mt. Juliet that provide much-needed rest for missionaries on stateside assignment – the Tennessee WMU Missionary House (Mary’s House) and the Missions Mobilization Center (MMC) Missions House. Tennessee WMU takes care of reservations and hosting the missionary families for both houses. Donated gift cards are used to stock pantry staples and other household items; if your group would like to donate Kroger, Target or Walmart gift cards for this ministry opportunity, please mail them to Tennessee WMU, PO Box 682789, Franklin, TN 37068.

Encouraging Collegiate MKs/TCKs

Each year Tennessee WMU assigns a Missionary Kid/Third Culture Kid who is attending college in Tennessee to every association so churches can encourage and support them. To find out the MK/TCK who has been assigned to your church, contact your association office, the association WMU director, or Kim Cruse, TN WMU Missions Discipleship Specialist.

Denver Prayer Advocacy Partnership

Tennessee WMU began a prayer advocacy partnership with Send Denver (see button link below) in 2014 with a desire to engage Tennessee Baptists in prayer for Denver.  This has primarily been done by recruiting prayer partners, sending prayer walking teams to Denver, and hosting video conference meetings to hear from and pray for church planters.

In 2023, Tennessee WMU plans to send at least two prayer walking teams to Denver. Contact Vickie Anderson at vanderson@tnbaptist.org if are interested in leading or being part of a team. Tennessee Baptist Children’s Homes

Tennessee WMU partners with the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Homes by promoting their  Amazon wish list. The have created an Amazon Wish List of items to use in their residential campuses or foster homes to help provide for the basic daily needs for the children in their care.  TBCH does not receive any government funds so providing these much-needed items will allow other funds to be used for welcoming children in hard places with the love of Christ. Bible Storying

Simply the Word is a powerful and unique approach to Bible study. Best designed for groups, it utilizes a strategy of dissecting the events of the Bible’s stories, along with analyzing decisions that were made by those involved, and the impact of those choices. Digging deeper into these stories through this approach helps participants consider possible thoughts and feelings of those in the story when it was happening, and see what God was doing then and what He is saying now through the story.

The STW technique can be learned in a four-to-six-hour training, which includes multiple sessions to observe, participate, and practice leading. STW Bible study/storying can also be used for your individual quiet time and offers a fresh look on Bible stories you’ve known your whole life. You’ll walk away from a discussion saying, “I never saw that truth in that story before” and “I never realized or saw it that way.”

New Hope Bible Storying is a unique Bible study approach that includes 7 sessions in a small group format where participants learn about wholeness and healing through specific Bible stories. It seeks to help those who have been through trauma share their own stories in a safe environment where healing can occur.

Tell the Story: Bible Storying for Kids is a Bible storying kit from national WMU that contains 40 Bible story sessions with 60 different activities, games, craft ideas and memory verse activities to help kids understand God’s Word and apply it to their lives. Also included is a 5-session plan for mission trips, Vacation Bible School, and outreach events. This multi-use resource is great for Backyard Bible clubs, church plants, small groups, and Sunday School classes, and can be adapted to multiple age levels and audiences.

If you are interested in attending or hosting an in-person training event, contact Kim Cruse, TN WMU Missions Discipleship Specialist.
