About us

Founded in 1872, St. Luke’s University Health Network (SLUHN) is a fully integrated, regional, non-profit network of more than 20,000 employees providing services at 15 campuses and 300+ outpatient sites. With annual net revenue of $3.4 billion, the Network’s service area includes 11 counties in two states: Lehigh, Northampton, Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Montgomery, Monroe, Schuylkill and Luzerne counties in Pennsylvania and Warren and Hunterdon counties in New Jersey. St. Luke’s hospitals operate the largest network of trauma centers in Pennsylvania, with the Bethlehem Campus being home to St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital. Dedicated to advancing medical education, St. Luke’s is the preeminent teaching hospital in central-eastern Pennsylvania. In partnership with Temple University, the Network established the Lehigh Valley’s first and only four-year medical school campus. It also operates the nation’s longest continuously operating School of Nursing, established in 1884, and 45 fully accredited graduate medical educational programs with more than 400 residents and fellows. In 2022, St. Luke’s, a member of the Children’s Hospital Association, opened the Lehigh Valley’s first and only free-standing facility dedicated entirely to kids. SLUHN is the only Lehigh Valley-based health care system to earn Medicare’s five-star ratings (the highest) for quality, efficiency and patient satisfaction. It is both a Leapfrog Group and Healthgrades Top Hospital and a Newsweek World’s Best Hospital. The Network’s flagship University Hospital has earned the 100 Top Major Teaching Hospital designation from Fortune/PINC AI 11 times total and eight years in a row, including in 2023 when it was identified as THE #4 TEACHING HOSPITAL IN THE COUNTRY.

  • Let's volley! The St. Luke's Allentown Nursing Excellence Committee was thrilled to provide Raub Middle School students and staff with the resources to learn the game of pickleball, and funded new equipment so students can play after school. Some of our leaders from the Allentown campus went head-to-head with Raub administrators, teachers and students on May 14 for a pickleball fundraiser to support their 8th grade formal dance. #StLukesProud #pickleball #BetterTogether #AllinForAllentown

  • For medical students, the hooding ceremony is a unique recognition of the culmination of years of hard work and the transition to medical practitioner; the placement of the graduation hood symbolizes the academic journey through earning multiple degrees over the course of eight or more years. For the Temple/St. Luke’s School of Medicine Class of 2024, their graduation May 10 in Philadelphia was a special rite of passage that included meaningful moments with peers, faculty, and family. Photos in order include: Shaden Eldakar-Hein, Senior Associate Dean at Lewis Katz School of Medicine, Temple/St. Luke’s, and co-master of ceremonies, addressing the audience; Temple/St. Luke’s graduate Zack Sokol, MD addressing the house; Temple/St. Luke’s graduate Kate Arner, MD being hooded by Dr. James Anasti, Temple/St. Luke’s Director of Clinical Education and Research; Temple/St. Luke’s graduate Ankita Bassi, MD with Dr. Amy Goldberg, Dean of the Lewis Katz School of Medicine; Temple graduate Alec Gayner, MD being hooded by his father, Dr. Robert Gayner, St. Luke’s VP of Medical Affairs; and Temple/St. Luke’s graduate Eva Munshower, MD being hooded by her father, Dr. Thomas Munshower, St. Luke’s family physician. Congratulations to all graduates of the Temple/St. Luke’s School of Medicine, the Lehigh Valley’s first and only four-year medical school. • If you suspect that someone you care about is struggling with mental health issues, you may feel unsure how to help them. The best way to approach them is with kindness, respect and a willingness to listen and offer help. • Congratulations to Chief Graduate Medical Education Officer, J.P. Orlando, Ed.D., who received the Benigna Education Award at this year’s Moravian University Shining Lights ceremony for his academic and medical education work. In addition to receiving the award, Orlando, a ’96 Moravian graduate, was a guest on the Moravian University Houndcast, where he discussed his ten-year career at St. Luke’s and how he views and defines success. “What helps me to get a better understanding has been volunteering and participating on boards throughout my career. To understand the trends that are happening, and then to take that knowledge locally… being part of that is really rewarding,” Orlando told the podcast’s hosts. “To me, success is seeing teams grow, organizations grow, and people grow as they realize their full potential.” Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eRDHWCAj 📸: Photo courtesy of Moravian University #StLukesProud

  • We are proud to have supported the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride this morning, honoring Emergency Medical Services. Professional Track Sprint Cyclist and St. Luke’s Community Ambassador Mandy Marquardt kicked off this leg of the multi-day ride that started at our St. Luke’s Anderson Campus. The ride is a national event that remembers and celebrates those who serve every day, those who have become sick or injured while performing their duties, and those who have died in the line of duty. Thank you to all of our EMS Professionals for everything you do to keep our community safe! Learn more about the ride: https://lnkd.in/e4RmCxMK #StLukesProud #AndersonCampus #EMSWeek

We are #StLukesProud to have created the region’s only accredited radiology residency programs in order to meet the nationwide shortage of radiologists. "The Network is committed to education and providing health services to the community," said Pallav Shah, MD, program director of the Diagnostic Radiology Residency. The residency programs are the result of a long-term plan and investment that will ultimately benefit the community. Our hope is that the residents will stay once they train here, especially since they will learn how we do things and what we consider the best practices. We hope they will join our team and work in our community." Learn more: https://lnkd.in/en62fJws #Radiology
