🌟Its Fair Use Friday! Today, we are kicking off a new weekly series celebrating the vital role fair use plays in creativity, innovation and our everyday life. This week, we honor the late Justice David Souter, former Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, for his pivotal role in strengthening fair use and balanced copyright in the digital age. In 1994, Justice Souter authored the majority opinion in Campbell v. Acuff-Rose Music, a landmark case that reaffirmed transformative uses, even commercial ones, can qualify as fair use. On our first #FairUseFriday, we recognize Justice Souter’s legacy in safeguarding creative freedom, freedom of expression, and innovation.
