Internet speeds are measured in megabits per second (Mbps) and are calculated based on bandwidth, which is the maximum speed at which you can download data from the internet. Previously, Alliance’s fiber-to-home network provided internet plans ranging from 50-500 Mbps. With a gig, you now have access to nearly 1,000 Mbps.
By the way, Alliance’s internet speeds are also symmetrical, so your upload speed is just as fast as your download speed!
When it comes to finding the internet plan that’s right for you, speeds from 25 to 250 Mbps are generally sufficient for light-usage and general browsing to high-demand homes with multiple users and devices. However, a very small number of users, such as ultra-high streamers, gamers, or business owners with multiple workstations are more likely to benefit from 1 gig internet.

Wired gig speeds will be up to 940 Mbps. Wireless speeds can vary depending on environmental factors such as interference, household building materials and customers’ personal devices. Some devices are unable to reach higher end speeds.
