New App Uses Location-Based Marketing to Enhance Visitor Experience in Music City

Nashville is the First U.S. City to be Featured in Stroll App's Public Launch,

NASHVILLE – Stroll, a new city exploration app using location and interest-based marketing, celebrates its public launch showcasing Nashville as its flagship destination and the first U.S. city to be featured, the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp announced today. Visitors and residents can use the app to explore everything each Nashville neighborhood has to offer, and it is particularly useful during special events, including the upcoming Let Freedom Sing! Music City July 4th. The Stroll app is available to download now for Nashville from the App Store or on Google Play and will soon be available for other cities as well.

Users who download Stroll get immediate access to real-time, location-based suggestions about what to do, eat, see, and more, alongside interactive maps, photos, and descriptions. Category filters allow users to narrow down suggestions by their mood (i.e., brunch time, entertain me, time to laugh) and specific location categories (i.e., parks, hidden gems, museums). If users stroll by a business they want to visit later in their trip, they can find it in the app and add it to their favorites list as a reminder to come back. Local businesses can get involved by promoting discounts or events in the app, as well as fun facts and tailored brand messaging, all of which can be updated 24/7 by the business itself.

Development of the Stroll app, which is headquartered in Music City, first began in 2019 and was founded by John Mark (J.M.) Eberhardt, CEO, and Dr. Charleson Bell, CIO, with the goal of expanding across the country. Early in the app’s formation, the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp partnered with Stroll to support its development and ultimately help make future visitor experiences easier than before.

“We’re thrilled to be supporting a local brand that has such massive potential, so deciding to partner with them early on was an easy choice. The app provides the opportunity to showcase and promote every facet of Nashville in a simple, user-friendly way that benefits businesses and users alike,” said Butch Spyridon, President and CEO, Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp. “It’s a win-win for Nashville and every city they expand to in the future.”

Both tourists and locals are a target user of the app with timely and relevant city content that provides a more in-depth look into Nashville’s unique neighborhoods and things to see and do.

“Living in Nashville ourselves, we wanted to ensure Stroll was as useful and informative to locals as it is to those who have never been here,” said Stroll CEO J.M. Eberhardt. “This city has an endless number of unique businesses and activities to discover, so we’ve created the app to be a one-stop-shop for everyone.”

Earlier this year, Simpleview, the travel and tourism industry’s global leader in destination marketing tools and services, announced their partnership and investment in the app to further support technology developments for tourism and businesses alike.
