Hurricane Ida Employee Relief Assistance Program

The program provides limited financial assistance for eligible employees who are unable to meet immediate, essential, reasonable, and necessary expenses because of a temporary hardship as a result of Hurricane Ida. 

Program Options

Employees may apply for one or both of the following options: 

  • One-time relief grant – $500, non-taxable grant
  • One-time relief loan – Up to $1,000, zero-interest loan, loan to be repaid, via regular payroll deductions, in full, before November 30, 2022. 

Eligibility

Tulane employees wishing to apply must: 

  • Be an active, benefits-eligible university employee (student employees are not eligible); and
  • Have a temporary financial hardship as defined below.

Only one grant per household is allowed.

A temporary financial hardship for this program is one caused by events from Hurricane Ida such as: 

  • Loss of livable housing/ primary residence;
  • Serious illness or injury;
  • Significant loss of household income affecting your ability to pay for basic needs.

Employees who have given notice of resignation or separation from university employment are ineligible.  Employees receiving a grant and/or loan who separate from service on or before November 1, 2021, will be required to repay any relief funds received upon termination.  

How To Apply

Fill out the form electronically using the link below.  The deadline to apply for assistance under this program is November 1, 2021.  All applications are treated as confidential. Applications are reviewed and processed daily. Deposits are typically made weekly after approval. If your application is approved, the funds will be sent by direct deposit.

The proceeds available through Tulane’s Program are secondary to funds received from government assistance or insurance proceeds.  This program is intended to address unmet need for financial assistance not otherwise covered by government assistance or insurance proceeds. Eligible employees are encouraged to first seek relief via applicable government assistance programs and/or insurance benefits. If your application is found to contain misleading or inaccurate information it will be considered invalid and you will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
