Clarification for faculty on the “Cleared to Return to Campus” column in course rosters

Faculty may notice that many students on their course rosters are listed as “not applicable” in the “cleared to return to campus” column.

Students listed as “not applicable” are permitted to be on campus and enter buildings.

The “cleared to return to campus” field is generated only for students who have had a positive daily health screening. These students consult with the Student Health Service and then are either given clearance to be on campus, or given instructions to isolate or quarantine.

So, in the “cleared to return to campus” column on your course roster:

“No” means the student has had a positive health screening and is not permitted on campus. These students will not be able to attend in-person classes.

“Yes” means the student has had a positive health screening but has been given permission to return to campus. These students will be able to attend in-person classes.

“Not applicable” means the student never had a positive health screening in the first place. These students are permitted on campus and will be able to attend in-person classes.
