Draft PDS-01, BSR/RESNET/ICC 301-2019 Addendum E-202x, Appendix A Update

Proposed addendum BSR/RESNET/ICC 301-2019 Addendum E-202x will revise Standard ANSI/RESNET/ICC 301-2019 to update Appendix A and Section 4.2.2.2 on calculations and inspections for insulation installation grading. The major change made by the Appendix update is the transformation of the current 3 grade scheme into a 2 grade scheme. Inspections determine if the home’s insulation installation meets the Appendix requirements for “Properly Installed” insulation (PII). The home is then assigned either the grade of Properly Installed or Not Properly Installed. If the insulation is Properly Installed it is modeled at its measured, labeled or installer certified value including other adjustments described in the Appendix. If the insulation is Not Properly Installed it is modeled with no R-Value for 10 percent of the insulated surface area and at its measured or labeled value including Appendix A adjustments for the remainder. See the draft addendum at the link below for specifics.

This first draft of proposed Addendum E is submitted for public comment for 45 days, beginning August 27, 2021 and ending October 11, 2021. Only the changes shown by strike-through and underline text in red print are open for comment. To review and comment on the draft follow the links below.

Tips and Reminders for Submitting Public Comments

  • Comments must pertain to text in draft PDS-01 that is shown as either strikethrough or underlined and red print. Comments on portions of draft PDS-01 where no change is indicated will be rejected.
  • Comments must include a specific proposed change to the text of the draft open for comment. Proposed added text must be underlined and text proposed to be removed must be shown using strike-through. If not submitted in this format, the public comment may be rejected.
