Stockton Pulls Away in Second Half for 90-72 Win Over TCNJ

Ewing, N.J. – Stockton University (10-2, 5-1 NJAC) broke open a close game by outscoring The College of New Jersey (2-11, 1-5) 46-31 in the second half for a 90-72 road victory. The Ospreys sank eight three-pointers in the second stanza.
 
DJ Campbell (Vineland/Vineland) shot 5-10 (50%) from three-point range and scored a game-high 25 points to go with eight rebounds, four assists and three steals. Campbell has scored over 20 in nine of Stockton's 12 games.
 
Jonathan Azoroh (Ewing/Ewing) tossed in 14 markers on 6-10 (60%) shooting including a highlight reel dunk in the second half. Azoroh tied Campbell for the team lead with eight rebounds apiece.
 
Kadian Dawkins (Eastampton/Rancocas Valley) tallied 13 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals. Milo De Los Santos (Pennington/Hopewell Valley) went 4-6 (67%) from beyond the arc for a season-high 12 points, all in the second half.
 
Stockton broke out to a 17-5 lead behind six early points by Azoroh. The Ospreys later fell behind 30-27 before embarking on a 17-6 run led by eight markers from Martin Anguelov (Cape May/Wildwood Catholic) and two three-pointers by Campbell for a 44-36 advantage.
 
The Lions scored the last five points for a 44-41 count at halftime. Azoroh and Campbell each tossed in 10 first-half points followed by Anguelov and Dawkins with eight counters apiece.
 
In the second half, Stockton fell behind 51-46 before Campbell reeled off nine straight points and De Los Santos followed with a three-pointer to cap a 12-0 run that vaulted the Ospreys into a 58-51 lead.
 
After TCNJ closed the gap to 61-58, Stockton ripped off 10 consecutive points, including five by Tayvon Gaither (Mt. Laurel/Lenape), to extend to 71-58 with 9:56 to play. The Lions made one more charge, getting within 76-70 at the 5:13 mark, but the Ospreys closed with a 14-2 spurt to seal the 90-72 triumph.
 
Campbell (15) and De Los Santos (12) combined for 27 second-half points as Stockton outscored the Lions 46-31 after halftime.
 
Pat Higgins paced TCNJ with 13 points followed by Anthony DiCaro, Jason Larranaga and Matthew Solomon with 10 counters apiece.
 
Stockton with play at Montclair State, which is 5-0 in NJAC play, on Saturday at 1 p.m.
