Camden, N.J. – Stockton University (16-3, 10-2 NJAC) pulled away from Rutgers-Camden (3-16, 1-11) in the second half for a convincing 75-49 win on the road. Five Ospreys scored in double figures in the victory.
DJ Campbell (Vineland/Vineland) and
Kyion Flanders (Wildwood/Wildwood) led the way with 14 points apiece. Flanders went 4-5 (80%) from three-point range. All 14 of his points came in the second half.
Jonathan Azoroh (Ewing/Ewing) netted 13 points and tied for the team lead with six rebounds. Azoroh went 6-8 (75%) from the field.
Kadian Dawkins (Eastampton/Rancocas Valley) was nearly perfect, going 4-5 from the floor and 4-4 at the line for 12 points.
Milo De Los Santos (Pennington/Hopewell Valley) also tallied 12 markers.
The game was close for most of the first half, with five ties and three lead changes. The Ospreys created some separation by scoring the last six points, including four by Azoroh, for a 33-25 lead at the break. Azoroh (12 points) and Campbell (9 points) paced Stockton in the stanza.
The Ospreys broke the game open by shooting a blistering 71.4 percent (15-21) from the field, 63.6 percent (7-11) from three-point range and 83.3 percent (5-6) at the line. They outscored Rutgers-Camden 42-24 after halftime.
After the Scarlet Raptors pulled with 37-35, Stockton unleashed a 25-2 onslaught that resulted in a commanding 62-37 advantage with 7:57 remaining. Flanders led the charge with 11 points during the run. The Ospreys led by at least 18 the rest of the way as they cruised to their 16th win in 19 games this season, 75-49.
Jordan Trusty-Smith topped Rutgers-Camden with 13 points followed by Eric Benjamin with nine.
Stockton's three-game road trip will continue with a game at William Paterson on Saturday at 3 p.m.
