The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis claimed the 2024 WIAC Championship with a 5-2 win over No. 23 College of New Jersey. The Warhawks took a 2-1 lead after the doubles flights, winning single flights #3, #4, and #5 in the win.

The Warhawks No. 3 doubles pair of Payton Adkisson (Lincolnshire, Ill./Stevenson) and Tyler Nelson (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee) took the first match of the day with a 8-3 win. Drew Van Fossen (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) and Theo Billson (Lindfield, England/BHASVIK) followed it up with an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles. The pair had a dominate start, winning six of the first seven games. 

At No. 1 doubles, the College of New Jersey pair jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but the Warhawk pair of Luke VanDonslear (Marion, Iowa/Linn Mar) and Reuben Giorgio (Perth, Western Australia/Applecross) battled back tying it up 3-3. The doubles battled back & forth, splitting the next eight games with neither team gaining more than a one game lead. The match ended up in a tiebreaker, where TCNJ took the No. 1 doubles flight with a 7-5 tiebreak. 

Moving onto the singles, TCNJ tied the match up 2-2 with a win at No. 1 singles, but Tyler Nelson (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee) gave the Warhawks a team point with his win at No. 3 singles.

Nelson completed his first set with 6 straight games & carried the momentum forward to the second set, winning 6-4.

Drew Van Fossen (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) picked up the fourth Warhawk team point at No. 5 singles. Van Fossen dropped his first set 1-6, but showed strong resilience, bouncing back with a 6-1, 6-2 second & third sets. 

The Warhawks hit the match point at No. 4 singles, with Theo Billson (Lindfield, England/BHASVIK) winning at No. 4 singles. Billson took a close first set, in a 9-7 tiebreaker. With the close win in the tiebreak, Billson had the momentum into the second set. Billson won the first four games, taking the match 6-2.
