Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (11-6, 8-2 NJAC) used a dominant 19-5 fourth period to pull away from Rowan University (8-9, 5-5 NJAC) 59-48 on Wednesday evening.
Grace Speer (Estell Manor/ACIT) continued her outstanding play with a game and career-high 19 points.

Stockton opened the contest scoring the first five points before the Profs answered with a 7-0 run, all by Kate Herlihy. Though the Ospreys shot 50 % (6-12) during the first frame, they trailed by two at 16-14 after one quarter.

The visitors rattled off the first seven points of the second period, holding Stockton without a point for the first five minutes of the stanza. The Ospreys got untracked with an 8-0 burst before settling in at the break behind by three at 26-23. Seven players scored for Stockton led by Speer with five markers.

The Profs were able to maintain the margin at 43-39 after three quarters, before Stockton opened up the fourth frame on fire. A 11-1 run gave the Ospreys their first lead at 50-44, since the 5-0 advantage to start the game, forcing Rowan into a timeout with 3:18 left in regulation. The home squad would not trail again.

Imene Fathi (Wildwood/Wildwood) nailed a three pointer to extend the lead to 53-44 at 2:19. Stockton then sealed the win at the foul line, hitting six from the charity stripe to capture the 59-48 victory. The Osprey defense held the Profs to just 2-16 (12.5%) during the pivotal final period.

In addition to Speer, Fathi scored 10 markers as the only players in double figures for Stockton. Speer grabbed a team-high six rebounds with
Katie Rausch Monmouth Junction/South Brunswick) topping all players with three assists.

Rowan was led by Herlihy who tallied 15 points, including 13 in the first half. Eliana Santana added 10 points and a game-high eight rebounds.

Stockton will travel to Mahwah, NJ for their next game, as the Ospreys will face Ramapo College on Saturday. Game time is scheduled for 3 pm.
