Warhawks Among Top 15 in Latest Learfield Cup Standings

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is ranked among the top 15 in the Learfield Directors' Cup Division III standings after the completion of winter sports. The Warhawks have accumulated a total of 459.50 points across two seasons of competition. 

UW-Whitewater secured 258 points during the winter campaign to move up to 14th in the overall standings. A total of 269 institutions are ranked in the Directors' Cup following winter sport competition. Sports included in the winter standings include men's and women's basketball, fencing, men's and women's hockey, rifle, skiing, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's and women's indoor track and field and men's wrestling. 

The Warhawk men's track and field garnered the most points for UWW during the winter campaign. UW-Whitewater's fourth place finish at the national meet added 80 points to the university's total. Women's basketball registered 73 points following the team's run to the Elite 8. UW-Whitewater's women's track and field team finished 20th and captured 43.5 points while the wrestling team added 51.5 points after finishing 22nd. 

The Warhawks totaled 201.50 points in the fall. UWW's run to the quarterfinals for football garnered 70 points to the institution's total. The Warhawk men's cross country team added 67.5 points with a tenth-place finish at the 2023 NCAA Division III Championship meet. The UW-Whitewater women's volleyball team secured 64 points with a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament. 

All eight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference universities are ranked among the top 103 institutions in the latest standings. WIAC Standings in the Directors' Cup: UW-La Crosse 7th, UWW 14th, UW-Eau Claire 34th, UW-Oshkosh 36th, UW-Stout 43rd, UW-Platteville 66th, UW-Stevens Point 100th, UW-River Falls 103rd. 

More Information on the Learfield Directors' Cup:
The Directors' Cup measures the overall athletic success of collegiate institutions. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 18 NCAA sports – nine women's and nine men's. Men's and women's basketball and men's and women's soccer must be counted among the total.
 
The Directors' Cup did not take place during the 2019-20 and 2020-21 years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 
 
In 2013-14, UW-Whitewater finished second in the Directors' Cup standings, the school's all-time best finish.
