Kadian Dawkins (Eastampton/Rancocas Valley),
John Georgiou (North Caldwell/West Essex),
Nick Duncsak (Toms River/TR North) and
Tim Petersen (Pitman/Pitman) qualified for the 2022 NABC Honors Court from the
National Association of Basketball Coaches.
The NABC Honors Court recognizes men's basketball players in all three NCAA Divisions plus the NAIA for their academic achievement. In order to qualify, players must be a junior or senior with a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher at the conclusion of the 2021-22 academic year.
The honorees all are juniors and each collected NABC Honors Court spots for the first time. Dawkins is majoring in computer science and Georgiou's major is business management. Duncsak is majoring in education and Peterson is an exercise science major. All four Ospreys also were NJAC All-Academic Honorable Mention qualifiers this year.
Dawkins was voted NJAC Honorable Mention and chosen and NJAC Player of the Week once for his play on the court this year. The point guard started all 31 games, averaging a career-high 11.8 points per game. Dawkins led the NJAC in assist/turnover ratio (1.9) and finished fourth in assists (4.4 apg). His 137 assists were the fourth-best season total ever at Stockton.
The junior dished a career-high 11 assists against Rutgers-Camden in November, which ranks second in a single game in Stockton history. With a year to play, Dawkins already is sixth all-time at Stockton with 273 career assists.
Duncsak played in 27 games, starting 14 times. For the season, the 6-7 junior shot a solid 37.8 percent (17-45) from behind the arc and 45.2 percent from the field (42-93) to go with averages of 3.8 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. Duncsak netted a career-high 15 points on 7-12 (.583) shooting at Rowan University on December 1.
Georgiou played in 12 games off the bench and totaled 10 points, nine rebounds and four assists over 40 minutes played. The junior shot 50 percent (3-6) from the field. Georgiou scored a career-high four points against Rutgers-Camden in November.
Peterson appeared in seven games off the bench, pulling down five rebounds on the year with a pair of steals. He sank his only two free throw attempts of the season for two points against New Jersey City on January 12.
