Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (6-6) extended their winning streak to five straight games, with a doubleheader sweep over Neumann University (6-11) by scores of 10-2 and 9-1 in five innings in both games that ended in the run rule.
Megan Sears (Oakland/Indian Hills) led the offense with four hits, three runs and six RBI, that included a pair of home runs.
The Ospreys jumped out on the Knights in game one, plating six runs in the first two frames for a 6-0 lead. After Neumann closed to 6-2 in the fourth inning, Stockton scored two more runs on four hits for an 8-2 margin. Sears then ended the game in the bottom of the fifth with a two-run, walk-off bomb for the 10-2 victory.
Nerina Tramp (Blackwood/Highland) earned her fourth win of the year in the circle, tossing five innings, allowing three hits, and striking out 10 batters, one off her career high.
In the night cap, Stockton started slowly, getting an RBI from freshman
Aubrey Jeffers (Lumberton/Rancocas Valley) for the 1-0 lead after one inning. The Ospreys exploded for five runs in their half of the third inning for a 6-0 advantage. The big blows came on a Sears three run homer and a two RBI single by freshman
Alexa Panagopoylos (Atco/Hammonton).
The Knights broke the shutout attempt in the top of the fifth before the Ospreys ended the game with three markers in the bottom of the frame.
Regan Mendick (Newark, DE/Red Lion Academy) knocked in a pair of runs, before
Emily Spencer (Southampton/Seneca) walked it off with an RBI double for the 9-1 win.
Mia Barone (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) tossed her first complete game in a Stockton uniform, with a career-high four strikeouts, allowing just two hits and the lone run, for her second win of the season.
In addition to Sears' big day,
Caitlin Cetrulo (Caldwell/James Caldwell) and Jeffers each stroked five safeties with Cetrulo scoring four runs, knocking in four RBI, and swiping a pair of bases. Spencer,
Megan Dignam, (Philadelphia, PA/Nazareth Academy) and Panagopoylos had four hits each, with the freshman driving in three runs as Stockton pounded 28 hits in the sweep.
Stockton will be back in action on Tuesday with the third of five straight home doubleheaders, as the Ospreys will face Manhattanville College. The games are scheduled for 2:30 and 4:30 pm.
