GALLOWAY, NJ — Stockton University has been named one of the "Best Colleges for Your Money" by Money Magazine.

In 2022, Stockton was ranked 156 on the list of 671 colleges selected from 2,400 across the nation. The magazine combined educational quality, affordability and alumni success, and considered the cost of attendance, merit and need-based aid provided to students and alumni earnings after graduation.

The school prides itself on providing quality, affordable and accessible education, Stockton President Harvey Kesselman said in a release. He cited the new Stockton Promise and Garden State Guarantee initiatives that provide free tuition and fees to lower-income students.

“Our priority is to assure that every student has the opportunity to attend and successfully graduate from college,” Kesselman said. “The value of a Stockton degree continues to grow because of our efforts to keep classes small and offer academic achievement programs that promote student success for all Stockton students.”

Since 2015, Stockton has increased its ranking from 483. The school said its rating came from a low 17:1 student-faculty ratio and a high graduation rate. The graduation rate for Stockton students is 76 percent, well above the national average of 57 percent. Also, 63 percent of students receive grants for tuition and fees.

“Stockton’s affordability and student-first environment are driving increased interest in the university,” said Robert Henrich, vice president for Enrollment Management. “Nearly 10,000 first-year students applied to Stockton this year, a 55% increase over 2021. This tremendous growth is a direct result of our efforts to position our students for success.”

Stockton graduates are earning an average of $51,729 just a few years after graduation, eight percent above the national average, according to the U.S. Department of Education College
Scorecard.
