As Autism Acceptance Month comes to a close, we're happy to share the journey of our Arts Work program at People, Inc.! This year marked a milestone as Erich, Stacey & Chaz proudly showcased their artwork in the the NY Alliance for Inclusion & Innovation’s Juried Art Exhibit & Reception as part of their Annual Conference. Erich's bold "Bikini" paintings exude happiness, reflecting his joy in sharing his art: "I get excited knowing people will see my artwork. It makes me feel good when people see my art. It makes people smile." Although Stacey's love is painting florals, her second love for beaches & fruit reminds us of summer. "I really like to paint flowers like daffodils, tulips & marigolds. They're beautiful & make me feel happy!" Chaz's art is usually filled with cryptic imagery & text, but his "Futurama" piece is more straightforward. "I feel happy doing art. I like when people look at my work, it makes them happy too." Their words & creations reflect the transformative power of art. Let's continue to champion inclusion, creativity & diversity. This Arbor Day, join us as we plant trees at 7 locations across our service area in New York. From the administrative building in Williamsville to Brighton Park Day Program in the Town of Tonawanda, we're spreading greenery & joy. The Brighton Park Day Program offers habilitative services that include an enriching greenhouse experience. This unique opportunity provides educational & therapeutic benefits, allowing participants to learn about the significance of cultivating food, plants, flowers & trees & their impact on the environment. Seneca Cazenovia Senior Apartments in Buffalo, Lilly Senior Apartments in Blasdell, Nelson Hopkins Apartments in Lockport, Commonwealth Apartment in Buffalo, & Union Square in North Chili/Rochester are also receiving the gift of new trees.
