Following the suspension of the business relationship between Morehouse College and Papa John’s, some students are urging the school to go a step further by banning Chick-fil-A from campus.
Due to a recent racial slur made by Papa John’s founder John Schnatter, @Morehouse is immediately suspending its campus dining relationship with Papa John’s. The College is exploring all options for removal of the franchise from campus in light of this highly offensive behavior.

While some individuals were pleased with the school’s action, others urged that the school apply the same treatment to the on-campus Chick-fil-A.
But I also remember like 95% of crown forum standing for the Anthem right when the Kaep was doing it. But when CFA’s white homophobic owner is on the board what can we expect. 🙃

Unlike the recent controversy with Papa John’s, students claim Chick-fil-A “has been doing problematic things for years…” and has remained on campus.
No offense but chic fil a has been doing problematic things for years yet you guys have proudly been serving their goods on campus

All yall talking mess in these comments about how they should have already done that but was here for the @ChickfilA! Have several seats in the one sided arse stadium!

Morehouse has a Chik fil A?! Been out the AUC too long RT @TiricoHairline: RT @_iAmRoyal: This is hilarious considering the anti-queer and racist CEO of Chick-Fil-A sits on your Board of Trustees, AND the CFA on campus is still open and active. https://t.co/SED6mBaa8b

Da’Shaun Harrison, who describes himself as “a contributing columnist for Queer Black Millennial” and an “organizer, abolitionist, and socialist,” and operates with a “Black Queer Feminist politic,” took the restaurant chain to task via Twitter. Harrison’s twitter bio reads: “fat queer communist nigga with thoughts.”
Morehouse continues to remind us that not all of its students matter; that the surrounding community—which Dan Cathy is working tirelessly to gentrify—does not matter.

I’m glad that they are working to rid the campus of this one company owned by a racist, but where is this same energy when it comes to the company owned by a man who has a vested interest in gentrifying the West End and is anti-queer?

PERIOD. Papa Johns has to go–leaving many Black folks unemployed–but we still contracting with Aramark, Starbucks, and CFA? How that work?https://t.co/YemqcqzIzd

Student Delaney Vandergrift advocated even more extreme measures, suggesting the campus cut ties with Sodexo and Starbucks, too.
Students have reached out to me about getting rid of Papa Johns as a flex item but none are concerned about the consequences. It just seems reactionary to me. If Daddy John has to go so does Sodexo and Starbucks AND Chickfila.

In a climate where anything can be interpreted as offensive, no food is safe on campus.
